Blevins, Arkansas is in the Wallaceburg Township of Hempstead County. The town was officially incorporated on September 10, 1914.  According to the encyclopedia of arkansas.net....

"The first courthouse of Hempstead County was established two miles south of the current location of Blevins. The county government met in 1819 in the log house of John English, built on the bank of Marlbrook Creek. It continued to meet there until 1824, when a courthouse was completed in Washington. Around 1837, Hugh A. Blevins acquired several plats of land in northeastern Hempstead County; Hugh and Sarah Blevins had eleven children. His brother Dillen Blevins also acquired adjacent land."[1]

The purpose of this website is to provide information about Blevins town history, early settlers in the area, and neighboring towns and communities.  This site also serves as a collection place for old photos, stories and maps of Blevins and nearby areas.  The  purpose of the site is  not to  discuss current events or activities taking place in Blevins or the surrounding communities.   Topics of this site are historical in nature and are typically 20 years in the past or  prior.
