PLACES & EVENTS: AREA MAPS
Several historical maps exists that show Blevins and the surrounding towns / communities. This section highlights old maps that provide a perspective of how the Blevins' area developed over the years.
The two maps immediately below are from 1856 and show Arkansas and a zoomed in Hempstead County. At the time of this map, Nevada county had not been created. These are the same map but zoomed in differently. A couple interesting facts:
++ Parts of Hempstead County were used to create Nevada County to the east. Nevada County was created 20 March 1871 from Hempstead, Columbia, and Ouachita Counties.
++ On these maps below, Blevins and Wallaceburg are not shown but the Marlbrook Community is shown.
The two maps immediately below are zoomed in views of a Soil Survey Map from 1916 showing Blevins and some of the surrounding communities. Clicking the link immediately below will take you to this 1916 Soil Survey Map showing all of Hempstead County. Once there, you can zoom in to different sections of the map to see details such as roads, location of houses, and the P&NW Railroad path.
