TOWN ORIGINS
Blevins is in Wallaceburg Township of Hempstead County. Around 1837, Hugh A. Blevins settled on land two miles north of the early Marlbrook settlement where the first County Courthouse was located. The settlement expanded when the Prescott & Northwestern railroad established a stop there for the Ozan Lumber Company to transport lumber and agricultural products, along with cotton from the local cotton gin. In 1901, a post office was established and was named after Hugh A. Blevins. The town was officially incorporated on September 10, 1914. Blevins has a bank, school district, businesses and churches.
